Having moved to New York City at the end of February 2024, I arrived at the tail end of the winter season and somehow got lucky with the weather from what I can remember.
When October was coming to a close I knew I was going to need some solid winter gear and began my journey into the unknown!
First, I severely underestimated the importance of Uniqlo HEATTECH despite all my peers telling me that it is essential. After the first really cold week, I was sure to order three more long sleeves to have on hand.
I kept seeing all the SoHo fashion girlies walk around with knitted headscarfs and knew that I needed to add one to my collection. I found this one from a creator on Etsy named AnotherHatBag and although it did take a while with shipping, coming from Latvia, I love it and want it in every single color.
I honestly have come to prefer these over beanies for a number of reasons, first because it doesn’t mess up my hair, and second because if you get too warm you can throw it over your shoulders and it still looks chic rather than shoving a beanie into your bag and/or pockets.

Another amazing Etsy find were these real leather gloves with a super cozy lining inside. Again want these in every color and for only $25 a great deal.
Continuing on the accessories trend, I ordered this gorgeous blue cashmere scarf from Uniqlo and I wear this bad boy so consistently, not only is it so warm but it is also light weight and the color paired with browns, reds, purples etc is stunning.
JW Anderson, the Creative Director of Loewe did a collab in October with Uniqlo, which is iconic in and of itself, but the pieces I ordered also did not disappoint. I knew I was going to need heavy duty sweaters, as I did not have any, so I ordered a white, navy, and rust cable knit. All staples and incredibly warm.
In addition, I wanted something adjacent to the barn jacket that has been seen this past season, so I ordered this from the same JW Anderson drop, again incredibly warm and chic.
Last but certainly not least, boots. As seen above, my mother in law purchased these boots for me and they have honestly been so helpful on the colder, wet and snowy days. The thickness of the sole makes me a solid 3 inches taller and fearless around puddles. I love my stompers and no one will change my mind! They are also made out of recycled rubber making them very lightweight for the size and sustainable. Prada girl forever.
This year I was really focused on ensuring I had the essentials to keep me warm as I adjusted to the new temperatures, next season, you can expect to see me in pieces that are a bit more elevated. For now, I will continue my journey in Uniqlo and my cozy every step of the way.
